Practice Summative Assessment

We offer a service where you can purchase a practice summative assessment as part of your NPQ programme, with all the details needed to carry out a summative assessment and receive feedback from one of our lead assessors.  The service is available for all of the leadership (NPQEL, NPQH and NPQSL) and all of the specialist NPQs. The practice assessment is completely online and so is available to UK and International participants.  The feedback is available in two types and can be:

  • Written feedback only. This is a detailed report outlining what strengths your response includes and also what areas need further development.
  • Written and verbal feedback with an online meeting or call with one of our lead assessors. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions.

The practice assessment includes a case study, similar to the one that you receive as part of your actual summative assessment, a proforma to complete and details of the process. The turnaround is relatively quick, but we would suggest that you complete the assessment at least 4 weeks prior to your assessment window to give you time to digest and respond to the feedback.

There is currently one practice summative assessment available for each NPQ programme, and it is anticipated more will be added at a later date.

To book a practice assessment, please select the appropriate option and make payment as required. NPQonline will then be in touch to arrange the delivery of the materials, and with instructions for how to return your completed response.

If you would like to purchase extended feedback, which will be through a conversation with the assessor, please also select the option for this from the menu. It is possible to add this option at a later date.

Please note that the assessment can usually be returned to you within two weeks, and often less than this, once your completed submission has been received. Therefore, if you are booking this less than three weeks before the assessment window opens, please get in touch to establish whether NPQonline has the capacity to assess your practice submission within that short timescale.

Guidance on which option type to select

First of all identify the programme you are on.

Option 1: Practice assessment and standard feedback

Decide on whether you require feedback in just a written form. There isn't the option to discuss this with the assessor, unless you chose the 'Extended feedback option ' at a later date.

Option 2: Practice assessment and extended feedback

In this option you will receive both written and verbal feedback. The assessor will be able to chat to you about your practice and give you some pointers. You will also be able to ask questions to clarify your thinking.

Option 3: Extended feedback only

This option is for those who selected the standard feedback, but would like to have the extended feedback. For this option, you will already have purchased your practice assessment and standard feedback.
